Mata Bicho

A few days ago me and my boyfriend went to dinner at Mata Bicho, here in Leiria, a “royal tavern”, which concept is a gourmet tavern: the decoration is full of retro details but the food is modern.

As appetizer we ate gratinated cheese with honey, which is wonderful!

I’m crazy about cheese, and it makes me forget the cholesterol, calories, bla bla bla, bla bla bla (when I see a cheese I eat it like there is no tomorrow!).

When I tasted the gratinated cheese with honey I thought: ok, I want four of this for dinner and I will be always happy! I didn’t ask for all that cheese (my boyfriend would not allowd me to) but, instead, the petit gateaux was great – and I’m very demanding since I see The USA Masterchef!

Delicious!

Um destes dias eu e o babe fomos jantar ao Mata Bicho, aqui em Leiria, uma “taberna real”, cujo conceito é o de uma taberna gourmet: a decoração está cheia de pormenores retro, mas a comida é algo moderna.

Como entrada, comemos queijo gratinado com mel, que é maravilhoso!

Acho que já disse aqui que sou louca por queijo, um dos únicos alimentos que me faz esquecer o colesterol,  as calorias, blá blá blá, blá blá blá (assim que vejo queijo atiro-me a ele como se não houvesse amanhã!). 

Quando provei o queijo gratinado com mel  pensei: ok, quero quatro destes para jantar e serei feliz para sempre!

Não pedi os quatro queijos (o babe não deixou), mas fui feliz na mesma, até porque o petit gateaux não estava mesmo nada mal - e olhem que desde que vejo o Masterchef America estou muitíssimo exigente!

Um mimo delicioso.

A Balenciaga rings low cost version

Well, H&M created the low cost version of these rings, that already are happily walking in my hands in a lot of possible variations!

A tip that I learnt in the wonderful Google world to avoid that this kind of bijue gets dark: you just need to put some clear nail polish, that usually we use like base or nail brightener.

Pois é, a H&M criou a versão low cost destes anéis, que já se andam a passear alegremente pelas minhas mãos, em várias variações possíveis!

Uma dica que aprendi no maravilhoso mundo da Google para evitar que este tipo de bijuterias escureça: basta passar-lhes verniz transparente que, habitualmente, usamos como base ou abrilhantador de unhas.

Sempre a aprender! 

Joana Vasconcelos Exhibition

Last Sunday I went to Palácio Nacional da Ajuda to see the Joaninha’s exhibition.

I already had seen the majority of her artworks, but not live. Want to know? Much better that I was expecting!

The most part of these artworks are huge, which make us fell very small. The criativity, detail, eccentricity, personality and originality do the rest.

The Jardim do Éden (that, unfortunately, I could not shoot because of the darkness) is an installation with plastic flowers that shine. How can she create a magnificient garden with such uggly flowers?

Another unavoidable artworks are Marilyn – so powerful -, A noiva – wich is done with o.b. tampons -, or Lilicoptère, that I imagined being Barbie’s helicopter.

I felt like crying when I saw Coração Independente at the sound of Amália.

At the end I wrote in the guestbook one word that resumes everything that I felt while watching the exhibition and what I feel regarding the author: “Proud!”.

Simply. 

No último domingo lá fui, toda contente, ao Palácio Nacional da Ajuda para ver a exposição da Joaninha.

Já tinha visto grande parte das obras, mas nunca ao vivo. Querem saber? Muito melhor do que estava à espera!

Muitas dessas obras são enormes, muito grandes mesmo, o que só por si já nos faz sentir pequeninos. A criatividade, minúcia, excentricidade, personalidade e originalidade são os restantes ingredientes que nos fazem ficar de queixo caído.

O Jardim do Éden (que, infelizmente, não consegui fotografar devido à escuridão) é uma instalação feita de flores de plástico que brilham. Como é que aquela mulher consegue, com flores tão pindéricas, criar um jardim maravilhoso de onde não apetece sair?

Outras obras incontornáveis são Marilyn - poderosa! -, A noiva – que, para os mais distraídos, é feita de tampões o.b. -, ou Lilicoptère, que imaginei logo ser o helicóptero da Barbie.

Senti vontade de chorar quando entrei na sala onde está exposto Coração Independente, ao som da Amália.

No final escrevi no livro de visitas uma palavra que resume tudo o que senti ao ver a exposição e o que sinto em relação à autora: “Orgulho!”.

Tão simplesmente.

These photos were taken in an abandoned house here in Leiria that should be restored by law, specially because the view from there is amazing... What a pity!

P.S.:  This is, for a long time, the last photos wich I’m with long hair. Ah ah! Wait for the next episodes!

Estas fotos foram tiradas numa casa abandonada aqui em Leiria que devia ser, por lei, mandada recuperar, especialmente porque dali se tem uma vista fabulosa... Uma pena!
